The Gedimino Pilis was built due to a dream Duke Gediminas had.

Culture Blog:
I believe that Lithuania and the United States have closely related symbols.  The flags both in Lithuania and the United States are valued similarly because they both symbolize the struggle for independence. The Lithuanian flag along with the American flag represent the people that died for their country and the blood shed for independence. The Coat of Arms also seems similar to the American culture because just like the Eagle, the Coat of Arms is placed on coins, official documents, and postage stamps. Also, the Gedimino pilis, a tower in Lithuania, represents the capital of the country similarly to the White House in the United States. Although Lithuania has symbols I have never seen before, their symbols represent their nationalism just as the American symbols do.
